In line with the objectives defined at a national level, Universidad Andrés Bello is developing a Carbon Neutrality Plan, which considers a series of energy efficiency and NCRE measures that will allow UNAB to move towards zero net emissions.
UNAB has quantified its organizational carbon footprint since 2016 where it can be seen that scope 3 of the carbon footprint has the greatest impact representing 85% of total emissions.
Carbon Footprint UNAB
As Universidad Andrés Bello, we quantify the Carbon Footprint year by year and certify this process in the Huella Chile program, where we have been recognized since 2018.

Carbon Plan
As an institution, we set ourselves the goal of achieving carbon neutrality in Scopes 1 and 2 by 2030. For this, we worked on a carbon neutrality plan for 8 UNAB sites divided into 5 stages.
Baseline: Carbon Footprint
Scopes 1 and 2 year 2021
Considers 43% purchase of electricity from renewable sources. This stage considers a saving of 259 MWh per year.
Projected BaU emissions year
2030
Assumes projected growth according to the number of students and maintains % purchase of electricity from renewable sources. This stage considers a saving of 354 MWh per year.
Reduction projected by
projects
It considers 10 categories of projects with an investment of 5.5 MUSD, considers the purchase of IREC certificates (details of implementation in 4 stages in the body of the report). This stage considers a saving of 1,520 MWh per year.
Neutralization by purchase
of carbon credits
Estimated cost of 24 k USD/year. This stage considers a saving of 2,494 MWh per year.
Carbon Neutral" Zero Balance
The APL Sustainable Campus Carbon Neutrality goal is met by 2030.
